Program Assistant I

Partners for Community Solutions (‘Partners”) is a nonprofit organization based in Arlington, VA. Partners is seeking candidates with writing, editing, database management and research experience to support the work of our Youthbuild project, a government-funded project in the field of youth employment and workforce development.

Duties:

  • Write and edit project documents -- reports, training manuals, newsletters that effectively communicate subject matter, with an organized and professional presentation.
  • Publish a quarterly newsletter, on issues pertaining to organizational capacity to serve at-risk youth: including writing, editing design/layout development, production and distribution for a national network of organizations.
  • Edit project reports, training manuals and other documents drafted by project staff.
  • Identify project related subject areas that need to be documented and develop the appropriate written material(s).
  • Manage an Access database, including assisting with design/layout and data entry.
  • Create a standard style guide for Youthbuild project written materials that utilize Partners’ overall design, as approved by Partners’ general management.
  • Work as team with all project and organizational team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in a relevant field.
  • Two (2) years proven performance in original business writing, layout design, and editing of drafts composed by others, preferably within the context of federally-funded projects.
  • Track record in database management and data entry, preferably using MS Access; including the ability to produce reports, graphs, charts, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a well established team.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks and comply with strict deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Access, Power Point and Publisher.
  • Willingness to periodically work off-site (within the US)
